Michael Maxwell Named Interim Director of M.S. in Real Estate Development Program at NSU’s Business School
FT. LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, Fla. – Michael Maxwell has been named interim director of the Master of Science in real estate development program at Nova Southeastern University’s H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship. The announcement was made by Michael Fields, Ph.D., dean of the Huizenga School.
Maxwell is the founder and managing partner of MAXWELL + Partners, LLC, which is based in Miami and provides real estate development and advisory services. He is a full member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), serves on the Executive Committee of the ULI Florida/Caribbean District Council, and was co-vice chair of the ULI 2008 National Fall conference. Maxwell is also an executive committee member of the Greater Miami Urban League and founding chairman of the Urban League’s affordable housing development company, New Urban Development LLC.
“Michael is a respected leader in the real estate industry and our students will greatly benefit from his experience,” said Fields. “He is extremely passionate about instructing the next generation of developers and will lead the real estate development program to great prominence.”
Maxwell earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Texas at Austin, where he studied architecture and city planning, and he holds a Master of Planning degree from the University of Virginia, with specializations in real estate development and urban design.
Maxwell replaces Wayne Falbey, D.B.A., who remains with the Huizenga School’s M.S. in real estate development program as an adjunct professor and member of the program’s advisory board.
“I’m thrilled to lead the real estate development program because the teaching method is different from all other real estate programs,” said Maxwell. “Our students are rigorously trained by outstanding professionals in all aspects of real estate development. They receive a hands-on graduate education that prepares them to add value to their company beginning at day one. It is our approach and methodology that makes NSU’s real estate development program unique and our students so well prepared.”
