Marjory Stoneman Douglas Shooting – Coping

Roni Leiderman, Ph.D.

Roni Leiderman, Ph.D.

It’s been over a week since the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, where 17 lives were lost. Students throughout Florida and other states are turning their pain into change with the #NeverAgain movement, using their voices to urge lawmakers to tighten gun control policy to prevent another tragedy.

In a recent interview with Your South Florida, Roni Leiderman, Ph.D., dean of NSU’s Mailman Segal Center for Human Development, talked about moving forward and how to help our children cope. “We really have to be very observing of our children and be able to connect with their feelings and their thinking,” said Dr. Leiderman.
