FT. LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, FLA—Margaret Malmberg, Ph.D., has been named associate provost at Nova Southeastern University (NSU). The announcement was made by NSU President Ray Ferrero, Jr.

As associate provost, Malmberg will spearhead a newly created division comprised of NSU’s Mailman Segal Institute for Early Childhood Studies, the Center for Psychological Studies, the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Criminal Justice Institute. “An advantage of this type of collaboration is the enhanced opportunity for interdisciplinary teaching, research, and service,” Malmberg said. “Collaboration and innovation are valued here at Nova Southeastern University; these attributes are compellingly attractive to me.”

Malmberg comes to NSU with a wealth of knowledge and experience in academia, having previously served as associate dean at the University of Maine and director of the university’s Hutchinson Center in Belfast, Maine. Most recently, Malmberg served as executive vice president and vice president for academic and student affairs at the National College of the Marshall Islands in the republic of the Marshall Islands, a developing nation approximately 2,500 miles southwest of Hawaii.

Malmberg received both her Ph.D. and master’s degree in experimental psychology from Texas Christian University and completed post-doctoral studies in higher education administration at Michigan State University and Harvard University.
