Mailman Segal Center for Human Development to Host Open House for Early Childhood Programs

FORT LAUDERDALE – DAVIE, FL. –  Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) Mailman Segal Center for Human Development will be conducting an open house event for the entire South Florida community.  The open house is scheduled from  10 – 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 at  7600 SW 36th St., Davie in the Jim & Jan Moran Family Center Village (on NSU’s Davie Campus.)

For more than 40 years, NSU’s Mailman Segal Center for Human Development (MSC) has been providing cutting-edge early learning programs for children in South Florida. As a way to showcase its early childhood classes and the dedicated faculty who make it all come to life, the center will be hosting an open house event for the entire South Florida community.

Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the facility and visit classrooms while meeting with the experienced instructional staff and learning about their trademarked 5C Curriculum (Critical Thinking, Creativity, Cooperation, Concept Development and Communication.) Programs featured at the open house will be:

  • Family Center Infant & Toddler program (children ages 6 weeks – 24 months)
  • Family Center Preschool and Pre-kindergarten (children ages 2 – 5 years)
  • Parenting Place Parent/Child Enrichment Classes (children ages 6 weeks – 5 years)
  • The Academy (Pre-K – first grade for children with autism or related disorders)

Interested families are asked to RSVP online (www.nova.edu/mscopenhouse) or via phone (954-262-6918.) Families will receive a $50 application fee waiver when applying at the open house.

MSC is one of the nation’s largest and most highly respected, comprehensive early childhood demonstration and training facilities. Programs available include the Parenting Place, the Family Center Infant and Toddler Program, and the Family Center Preschool. In addition, The Baudhuin Preschool and Starting Right offer programs for children with autism and related disorders and their families.  Also housed at MSC is the Autism Consortium, the Interdisciplinary Council for the Study of Autism and The Early Childhood Initiative and the Unicorn Children’s Foundation Clinic, which aoffers an interdisciplinary approach to the assessment and diagnosis of ASD.

The Family Center Parenting Place is where parents can learn and grow with their children as they interact and participate in fun and educational classes, all of which are led by early childhood professionals. The Family Center Infant and Toddler Program was created to address the needs of working families by offering full-day child care for children ages six weeks to two years. Children are in a nurturing environment with rich, play-based learning activities. The Family Center Preschool is where children ages two through pre-K acquire critical skills and enjoy key learning and play-based experiences needed to be successful as they continue their educational journey.
