NSU student group collects ponytails for Locks of Love, and receives coverage from several local media outlets
NSU student group Locks for a Cause, founded by cancer survivor and NSU freshman Lesly Viera, held its first event, “For Hair’s Sake” at NSU on April 17 to collect ponytails for Locks of Love. The students collected more than 155 ponytails and $360, and received media coverage on several social media outlets, blogs, and from local media including:
- Sun-Sentinel, SouthFlorida.com, and Orlando Sentinel all run “Teen cancer survivor hosting hair benefit at NSU on Sunday” in print and online on 4-12-11
- WHYI y100 Radio airs complimentary public service promos for the event during the Yo! Show on 4-14-11 and 4-15-11 (no online link)
- WIOD NewsRadio 610 airs interview about the event with Lesly Viera on 4-15-11 (no online link)
