Learn New Digital Skills this Summer with the Alvin Sherman Library’s Computer Camp for Adults
– Classes Start June 10 and Run Through Aug. 12
FT. LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, Fla. – Learn new and enhance existing digital skills this summer with Computer Camp for Adults classes offered June 10 through Aug. 12 at Nova Southeastern University’s Alvin Sherman Library, Research, and Information Technology Center, 3100 Ray Ferrero, Jr. Blvd.
All classes are FREE and open to the public, but space is limited so registration is required. All classes also require basic computer skills such as moving the mouse, copy and paste, and typing. The schedule includes:
- Avatars – Wed. June 10 from 1 to 3 p.m.
Express yourself with an avatar. Learn about the many tools available for establishing your virtual identity. - Online E-mail – Wed. June 17 from 1 to 2 p.m.
Create an e-mail account and start connecting with family and friends using online e-mail services like Yahoo and Gmail. - Google Docs – Wed. June 24 from 1 to 3 p.m.
Learn how to access and use Google Docs, which are free online applications to help you function in the 21st century. - Flickr – Wed. July 8 from 1 to 3 p.m.
Make your photos available and organize them with efficiency using Flickr, one of the most popular photo management applications on the web. - Navigating NovaCat Catalog – Wed. July 15 from 1 to 2 p.m.
Learn how to navigate the online library catalog to find the books and DVDs you want. Don’t miss the opportunity to expertly search and find what you’re looking for. - Facebook – Wed. July 22 from 1 to 3 p.m. Catch up with old friends and make new ones using this popular social networking application.
- Microsoft Applications – Wed. Aug. 5 from 1 to 2 p.m. Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint are the world’s most popular applications with employers and home users. Join us as we review some of the features that make these applications a necessity for computer users.
- YouTube – Wed. Aug. 12 from 1 to 3 p.m. You’ve heard of it, you’ve visited it, but have you taken advantage of all that YouTube has to offer?
