Jamaican Ambassador to Hold ‘Community Meet and Greet’ at Nova, April 12

Jamaican Ambassador to the United States, Her Excellence Audrey Marks
FT. LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern University welcomes Her Excellence, Ambassador Audrey Marks, Jamaica’s tenth ambassador to the United States and permanent Jamaican representative to the Organization of American States, to campus on Tuesday, April 12 for a public town hall event. Ambassador Marks has served in her current post as the Jamaican Ambassador to the U.S. since May 2010.
“We are thrilled to have an alumna of such high caliber come back to our campus and share her extraordinary experiences with the South Florida and Nova communities,” said NSU Chancellor Ray Ferrero, Jr., J.D. “Ambassador Marks used her education to build an incredible career as an entrepreneur, and now as a world-class diplomat, and we are proud to count her as a Nova alumna.”
Ambassador Marks was the first female President of the American Chamber of Commerce of Jamaica (AMCHAM), an organization which promotes investment and trade between the United States and Jamaica. She is also the Ernest & Young Nominee for the “Caribbean Entrepreneur of the Year 2000;” Business Leader of the Year Award nominee for 2000; and the Florida International University Business Leader of the Year Award for 2003 and 2010.
An entrepreneur at heart, she earned her M.B.A. from then Nova University. Among her many accomplishments, she founded Paymaster (Jamaica) Limited, a multi-transaction company which she conceptualized and started in 1997. Paymaster, the first multi-transaction agency in the Caribbean, operates payment agencies from which all types of bill payments and remittances can be made. The company provided services to over 1.4 million customers and employment for over 400 persons with annual transactions of over $40 billion.
Ambassador Marks’ South Florida Town Hall will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Morton and Marie Morris Auditorium in NSU’s Health Professions Division on Nova’s Davie campus.
The Morton and Marie Morris Auditorium is located at NSU’s Health Professions Division, located on the northeast corner of University Drive and SW 30th St. (Abe Fischler Blvd) in Davie.
