IT Palooza networking event at Nova; IT salaries rise

Highly skilled information technology professionals in South Florida have always been able to command top pay, but a new survey shows those salaries will improve in 2014.

A survey of more than 500 IT professionals and local companies conducted by SherlockTech Staffing shows double-digit increases in South Florida IT hiring and salaries.

The demand for programmers, especially for mobile applications as well as IT security, continues to grow, said Alex Funkhouser, president with SherlockTech Staffing in South Florida and an organizer of IT Palooza.

The study was done in conjunction with IT Palooza, South Florida technology industry’s biggest annual event and holiday party being held at Nova Southeastern University’s Graduate School of Information Sciences on Dec. 12 .

“That’s the great thing about IT Palooza. It’s for all types — the hardcore technical programmer to people just interested in understanding more about technology and digital marketing,” said Funkhouser.
