Israeli Ambassador Daniel Ayalon to Speak at Nova Southeastern University

FORT LAUDERDALE/DAVIE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) Farquhar Honors College, the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, and the Office of International Affairs will co-host a speaking event featuring Israeli Ambassador Daniel Ayalon at NSU’s Fort Lauderdale-Davie campus located at 3301 College Avenue on March 28 at 7 pm.  He will discuss “Challenges and Opportunities for the U.S.-Israel Partnership in a Rapidly Changing Middle East.”

The event, to be held in NSU’s Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center, is part of the Farquhar Honors College’s Distinguished Speakers Series and is free and open to the public, but tickets are required (see below for further information).  This series brings dignitaries and prominent thought leaders from around the world to NSU to share their expertise with students and the community.

“The bond between the U.S. and Israel is very strong,” said Ambassador Daniel Ayalon. “I welcome the opportunity to speak at Nova Southeastern University. It’s important for young people to learn about and discuss international affairs, as they will be our future leaders.”

Ambassador Ayalon will also serve as a liaison between NSU and universities in Israel to increase awareness about NSU’s educational opportunities for students and faculty. In addition, he will help facilitate study abroad, faculty exchange and joint research opportunities.

“We are extremely honored to have Ambassador Ayalon at Nova Southeastern University,” said Dr. George Hanbury, President of NSU. “His vast knowledge and years of expertise on the significant and timely topic of U.S.-Israeli relations will bring a unique and invaluable perspective to our students and community.”

Ambassador Daniel “Danny” Ayalon served as a member of Knesset (the Israeli Parliament), Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel (2009–2013), and Israel’s Ambassador to the United States (2002–2006). He is currently president of Hod Ayalon Ltd., a private consulting firm for governments and international corporations. He is also the founder of The Truth About Israel, a nonprofit corporation that trains and educates the public about Israel. He is a member of the Board of Governors of Tel Aviv University and the Lantos Human Rights and Justice Foundation in Washington, D.C. Additionally, he is a visiting professor at Yeshiva University.

This event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required for attendance. Tickets become available March 13 for NSU students, faculty, and staff. An NSU ID is required to obtain tickets. Tickets become available March 20 for members of the public. To pick up tickets, stop by NSU’s Farquhar Honors College Office of the Dean in the Mailman-Hollywood Building, second floor Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Limit two tickets per person.

The Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center is located on the north side of the Alvin Sherman Library. Parking is available at the garage across the street.
