His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet to Visit South Florida

His visit to include local colleges and universities as well as a public talk

FT. LAUDERDALE (DAVIE), FLA.—His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet returns to South Florida on Feb. 23 and 24, visiting Broward College, Florida Atlantic University and Nova Southeastern University. He will make a public talk part of his visit.

Nova Southeastern University (NSU) and Broward College (BC) will host his first appearance on Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 9:30 a.m. in the Arena at NSU’s Don Taft University Center where the Dalai Lama will speak to students, faculty and invited guests about “Universal Responsibility.”

That afternoon, His Holiness will address the public in the Arena at the NSU’s Don Taft University Center at 1:30 p.m. He will talk about “The Effect of Compassion on the Global Community.” For ticket information for the public event, contact the Arena Box Office at 954.262.5553 or visit www.adtuc.com. Tickets may also be purchased through Ticketmaster by calling 1.800.745.3000 or by going on line to www.ticketmaster.com

Ticket prices for the public event are $25.00 for floor and lower level seating and $15.00 for upper level and concourse ADA seating. No large bags, backpacks, cameras video cameras or strollers will be allowed in the Arena.

On Wednesday morning, Feb. 24, His Holiness will speak to Florida Atlantic University students, faculty and guests at 10 a.m. at the FAU Arena, also called The Burrow, on its main campus in Boca Raton. His topic will be “Compassion as a Pillar of World Peace.”

The Dalai Lama then travels to Broward College’s Davie campus on Wednesday afternoon to lead discussions with presidents from South Florida’s colleges and universities who are members of the Florida Association of Colleges and Universities (FACU). The discussion will center on the “Responsibilities of Higher Education in Today’s Global Society.”

David Armstrong, Jr. and Florida Atlantic University interim President John Pritchett, we are honored to have His Holiness speak to the students, faculty and guests of our respective colleges and universities,” said NSU Chancellor Ray Ferrero, Jr., J.D. “It is fitting that academic institutions are hosting His Holiness, as he has become a great teacher and proponent of world peace and goodwill.”
