FT. LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, Fla. – More than 1,000 baby boomers and the elderly will have access to free health care at a Nova Southeastern University health fair on Sunday, April 26.

Titled “Boomers and Beyond, A Day For Health And Wellness”, the event will provide free health screenings and services for diabetes, eye problems, fall risk and balance, mental health, blood pressure, BMI (body mass index), bone density, sonography, podiatry, physical therapy, among other things.

Targeting adults ages 35 and up, the event will be held at NSU’s Health Professions Division located at 3200 University Drive. It will run between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

There will be three attorneys, who specialize in elderly law, on hand to provide the public with a free financial seminar. The attorneys will answer legal and financial questions.

NSU faculty experts will be providing information on how to live healthier lives and engage in wellness activities. There will also be cooking demonstrations to teach participants how to prepare delicious and nutritious meals. Free food and raffle prizes will be available, along with free parking.

There will be a screening of the WPBT2 program, Do Not Go Gently, narrated by Walter Cronkite. The show explores the power of imagination in aging. Following the program, there will be an interactive and imaginative session consisting of singing and dancing.

Last year, more than 1,000 people attended Boomers and Beyond. This year, organizers hope to serve 1,500 people or more.
