Enjoy an Evening with Renowned Violinist Joan Kwuon & Explore the White House with NSU Library’s Circle of Friends – Nov. 13
FT. LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, Fla. – History buffs are in for a rare treat this fall when the Alvin Sherman Library at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) features two concurrent White House exhibits in its Second Floor Gallery, including one with letters handwritten by George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
To enhance the festivities, the Circle of Friends of NSU’s Alvin Sherman Library will be hosting an evening of music along with an exploration of the exhibits on Saturday, Nov. 13.
The festivities begin at 6 p.m. with cocktails and gourmet hor d’oeuvres and will include a performance by renowned violinist Joan Kwuon. The New York Times praised Kwon for her “fiery, intensely musical and impassioned playing.” Guest historian William Bushong will then lead an exploration of the exhibits:
- James Hoban: Architect of the White House
A traveling panel exhibit from the White House Historical Association on the design and construction of the White House by the 18th century Irish architect James Hoban. - Presidential Letters and Signatures
from the Collection of Sheldon C. and Rosalind Kurland
Featuring original documents and hand-written correspondence signed by George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and many more. Get a glimpse into the personal and professional lives of nearly all of America’s past presidents.
Tickets for this evening gala are $50 for Circle of Friends members, and $75 for non-members. The Circle of Friends is a diverse group of individuals who share the common goal of furthering the intellectual resources of NSU’s Alvin Sherman Library.
