Dennis Named First Team Academic All-District

NSU Point Guard Currently Holds a 3.65 Cummulative GPA

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Already well known for his on-court abilities, Nova Southeastern point guard David Dennis has recently been recognized for his dedication in the classroom as well after landing on the Google Cloud Academic All-District 5 First Team.Dennis

Dennis, who owns a cumulative 3.65 Grade Point Average in Sport & Recreation Management, is one of just two players from the Sunshine State Conference to be selected.

A native of Canal Winchester, Ohio, the Sharks’ senior leader has guided the program to new heights in 2018-19. Nova Southeastern has not only reached its highest ranking in program history, coming in at No. 3 in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II poll, but as recently as this past Wednesday, the Sharks also locked up the program’s first-ever share of the SSC regular season title. In 24 starts this year, Dennis has averaged 15.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.8 assists, while his 2.7 steals per game currently ranks 10th in the nation.

Comprised of schools from the Gulf South Conference and Southern Intercollegiate Conference, in addition to the SSC, Dennis is joined on the All-District 5 First Team by Clay Guillozet (Valdosta State), JJ Kaplan (Alabama in Huntsville), Kyran McClure (Saint Leo), and Sam Orf (Alabama in Huntsville)

Dennis will now advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third team (if applicable) Academic All-America honorees will be announced in mid-March.
