Corbin Captures All-American Honor

Senior Bailey Corbin Named Third Team All-American by United Soccer Coaches

FORT LAUDERDALE/DAVIE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern women’s soccer standout Bailey Corbin has been named Third Team All-American by United Soccer Coaches. The honor follows a decorative year for the defender from Lampeter, Pa., in which she helped propel the Sharks to their third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, a Sunshine State Conference regular season title, and was named the SSC Defensive Player of the Year.

Corbin becomes just the sixth All-American in Nova Southeastern program history and first since Sierra Lelii was placed on the second team in 2015.

“We are proud of Bailey,” said Nova Southeastern Head Coach John Constable. “She has had a remarkable three-year soccer career here. I initially tried to sign Bailey at my previous school, although at that stage she wanted to go elsewhere. I am happy it worked out the second time and we were able to get her to transfer here from the Division I level. She has played an enormous role in the rise of our program and I am delighted that she will leave here an All-American. Her mindset and drive to be the best she can possibly be has ensured her a fantastic career both from an individual and from a team standpoint. I feel Bailey receiving this award can be an inspiration to others, not only currently on our team, but also that may be considering joining our team. As a sophomore, Bailey did not receive any individual recognition. For her to then go on to be All-Sunshine State Conference, SSC Defensive Player of the Year, All-South Region, and now All-American, in addition to becoming a conference champion over the final two years, speaks volumes for her determination, work ethic and overall commitment to self-improvement.”

Corbin capped her Nova Southeastern career by tallying five goals in 16 starts in 2017. She recorded the game-winner in Nova Southeastern’s SSC regular season championship-clinching win over Tampa and later followed it up with another score in the Sharks’ 1-1 draw against sixth-ranked Lee in the South Region semifinals. Corbin is one of only two players from the SSC to be recognized on each of the three teams.

Corbin and the Sharks finished the season with a run to the NCAA Tournament Round of 32 and an overall record of 12-4-2.

This year’s NCAA Division II All-Americans will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Luncheon on January 20, 2018 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in conjunction with the 2018 United Soccer Coaches Convention in downtown Philadelphia.
