Coral Springs native wins golf’s Florida Open (Sun-Sentinel)

Coral Springs resident Ben Vertz remembers watching Tiger Woods win the 1997 Masters.

“My dad saw that I was very interested in watching the tournament, so that’s when and why he got me involved in golf,” said Vertz, who will be a junior this fall at Nova Southeastern University.

These days, Vertz is doing more winning than the all-time great. The local golfer did so recently during the 64th Florida Open Championship when he shot a 4-under-par 210 tournament total at the Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club.
