College Baseball Star Says Successful Immigrant Father Inspired Him

Jake Anchia

Jake Anchia

Jake Anchia, a baseball player star at Nova Southeastern University, had a historic freshman campaign for the NCAA Division II National Champion Sharks, breaking the program record for home runs by a freshman. Anchia is likely to be selected in the top 10 rounds in the 2018 MLB Draft.

His father coached him from age 6 to 10 and passed on his love of baseball to Jake. In a recent interview with the Miami Herald Jake said, “My dad is an inspiration. He came here not knowing any English. He lost his father when he was only 20. But he still worked hard to pursue the American Dream. If he could pull all that off, then I feel like I can do it without a problem.”
