Celebrate Women’s History Month with FREE Entrepreneur Workshop & Multiple Library Events

FT. LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, Fla. – Visit Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) Alvin Sherman Library, Research, and Information Technology Center in March to celebrate Women’s History Month. Highlights include special family and children’s storytime events, and a women’s entrepreneur workshop:

  • Women’s Small Business Workshop Featuring Lisa Guarini
    Wednesday, March 24 from 10:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.
    Learn, discover and grow! Take your ideas from concept to reality or find new ways to grow your business.

    • This FREE program will be both inspirational and informative for women looking to reinvent themselves, create their own business or take their great ideas to the next level. Our goal is to offer a one-stop shop featuring some of the resources available throughout South Florida for those looking to start and or grow a small business.

    • Then meet and be inspired by Lisa Guarini, Founder and CEO of Smart Broad Inc. and inventor of the Bra Smart, Bra Smart Travel and Sani Feet. Guarini’s specialty is bringing products from conception to reality. Join this self-made “mompreneur” to find out how you can brand yourself, your products and create a successful marketing plan.

    Thursday, March 4 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. (Ages 0-36 months)
    Join us as we celebrate Women’s History Month. Featured books include Silly Sally by Audrey Wood and The Aunts Go Marching by Maurie J. Manning. Click here for more books starring fun and funny girls. Then learn how to develop your child’s print awareness, one of the six skills children need to be ready to read.
  • Miss Meagan’s Storytime Fun: Hip, Hip Hooray for Books with the NSU Cheerleaders!
    Wednesday, March 10 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. (Ages 3-5)
    Celebrate Women’s History Month with celebrity guest readers, the NSU Cheerleaders! Take a picture with the team, and have the cheerleaders sign your special cheer craft. Click here for books about cheerleading. Then learn how to develop your child’s Letter Knowledge, one of the six skills children need to be ready to read.
  • Miss Meagan’s Tiny Tots Storytime: Moms are Grand!
    Thursday, March 11 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. (Ages 0-36 months)
    Join us as we celebrate Women’s History Month with books about moms and grandmas. Featured books include The Mommy Book by Todd Parr and The Grandma Book by Todd Parr. Click here for more books about mommies. Then learn how to develop your child’s Letter Knowledge, one of the six skills children need to be ready to read.
  • Culture Vultures Present: Decorating 101 with Susan Reich
    Sunday, March 14 from 2-4 p.m.
    Susan Reich, a talented interior designer, will share her passion for creativity in the design process as she guides participants through the process of decorating their home. From determining their style to understanding color and furnishings, participants will learn to bring their visions to life. 
  • Miss Meagan’s Tiny Tots Storytime: Wonderful Women
    Thursday, March 18 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. (Ages 0-36 months)
    Join us as we celebrate Women’s History Month! Children will explore the world through literature while developing pre-reading skills. Featured books include Hazel’s Amazing Mother by Rosemary Wells and Little Old Ladies by Franziska Kalch. Click here for more books about wonderful women. Then learn how to develop your child’s vocabulary, and the ability to tell and re-tell stories.
  • Romance Readers Teen Book Club: Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
    Friday, March 19 from 5:30-6 p.m. (Ages 15-18)
    This month’s pick is Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. Something unspeakable has happened to Melinda and now her old friends won’t even talk to her. While she is dying to speak to someone about what happened the night of the party, all she is left with are her own thoughts. A perfect selection in honor of Women’s History Month, find out how Melinda fights to let her voice be heard.
