Award-Winning Students, MSD Teacher Honored at Holocaust Reflection Event
NSU joined forces once again with the nonprofit Holocaust Learning and Education Fund, Inc. (HLEF) to sponsor the fourth annual Holocaust Reflection Contest among middle and high school students across Florida. The 12 winners were recognized at an award ceremony and reception on Sunday, March 11, in the Alvin Sherman Library.
In addition to the students, a teacher from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School also was recognized. During the ceremony, Craig and Barbara Weiner, who head the Holocaust Learning and Education Fund, and Broward Public Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie presented Ivy Schamis, the Parkland school’s Holocaust education teacher, with a check.
