Analyst assesses future for Crist, Republican Party (Sun-Sentinel)

Charles Zelden, a professor of history and legal studies at Nova Southeastern University, said Charlie Crist as an independent could become Florida’s next U.S. Senator.

“Politically he’s got a lot of advantages. He’s got the best name recognition. He’s well liked. He’s going to poach voters from moderate Democrats. He’s probably going to play well with many independents. And I think there’s going to be some more moderate Republicans who are going to stick with him.”
