Alyson Silva, MAC, CPA Appointed Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer at Nova Southeastern University
FORT LAUDERDALE – DAVIE, FLA. — Alyson Silva, MAC, CPA, has been appointed Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer at Nova Southeastern University (NSU). The announcement was made today by NSU President and Chief Executive Officer George L. Hanbury II, Ph.D.
In her new role, Silva will be responsible for the fiscal oversight and financial integrity of the University. Departments reporting to her include Treasury, Budget, the Controller’s Office, and Risk Management & Insurance. In addition, Silva will establish and maintain relationships with financial institutions, rating agencies, and will negotiate and execute contracts and other agreements on behalf of the University. She will serve as liaison with NSU Board of Trustee committees on finance, investments and audits. Silva will begin her new assignment immediately.
“Alyson has exceptional credentials in the financial field, as well as broad experience in both the not-for profit and higher education segments,” Hanbury said. “We are delighted that she has accepted this important role.”
Most recently, Silva served as NSU’s Executive Director of Finance. Prior to that, she was the Chief Financial Officer of United Way of Palm Beach County. Silva began her career in public Accounting having held management positions with Arthur Andersen and Ernst and Young. She holds her Masters of Accounting and Bachelor of Business Administration degrees from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida. She earned her CPA in 1998.
