Last week, the white nationalists were in Charlottesville,VA. to protest the city’s plan to remove the statue of Robert E. Lee, and counterdemonstrators were there to oppose them. In a recent interview with NBC 6, Charles Zelden, Ph.D., professor in the Department of History and Political Science at NSU’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences addressed the issue and explained the history of the Confederacy and why it continues to take center stage in the battle over statues.
