WPLG Features NSU Research on Eye Disease

Dr. Ava K. Bittner

WPLG Local 10 featuring research conducted by Ava K. Bittner, O.D., Ph.D., FAAO, associate professor in NSU’s College of Optometry. The story highlights Dr. Bittner’s study that examined the effects of transcorneal electrical stimulation or acupuncture to treat patients with retinitis pigmentosa, a genetic disease that causes vision loss. Two additional HPD faculty members involved in the study made cameos, including Kenneth Seger, O.D., M.S., FAAO, associate professor in NSU’s College of Optometry, and Deborah Mendelsohn, M.S., RDCS, RDMS, RVT, assistant professor of medical sonography in NSU’s College of Health Care Sciences.
