World Language Students Shine at Two State Conferences

University School of NSU students recently competed in two state conferences, with impressive results.

First, a full team of 16 students represented University School at the State Spanish Conference (Conferencia). All 16 participated in Impromptu – speaking Spanish for two minutes on a randomly-drawn topic. Six students (max allowed) participated in Declamation – reciting a Spanish poem, song or literary extract.

USchool’s perfect-scoring play consisted of 12 speaking roles and full team support. Team captain Jake Morse deserves special recognition for representing USchool at the Conferencia every year of high school, not to mention winning a record eight trophies over four years.

Then, at the Congrès de la Culture Française en Floride, University School captured second place overall in its division while achieving 18 of the highest ratings: 13 Excellent and 1 Bon.
