Nova Southeastern University women’s basketball guard Monaye Merritt earned her first Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week honor on Monday, Feb. 1, as announced by the league office.

Merritt (R-Sr., Philadelphia, Pa.) led a balanced attack in each win for the Sharks last week. In Wednesday’s, Jan. 27, battle between the league’s top two teams, she was one of five in double digits, scoring 10 points as well as grabbing nine rebounds, handing out three assists and notching a blocked shot. She was the top scorer among four with 10 or more in an OT road win at Rollins, with 18. Again, she had nine boards, along with two assists and a season-high four steals (plus another blocked shot).
