rp_primary_Untitled_2Nova Southeastern University student-athletes Chris Page (Jr., Plainfield, Ind.), Lorena Spaulding (Sr., Pembroke Pine, Fla.) and Kayla Wright (So., Lauderhill, Fla.) each were named Sunshine State Conference Players of the Week on Monday by the league office for their respective sports.

Page scored 27 points at home for the men’s basketball team against Saint Leo on Wednesday. He converted on 9-of-15 shots from the field and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the line. Page also added four assists to help the Sharks defeat the Lions, 70-60. Page then led the Sharks to a win on the road over the Tampa with a 25-point performance. Page was 10-of-15 from the field and 5-of-8 from the 3-point line. The guard added five rebounds and four assists, allowing the Sharks to cruise to a 75-61 victory.

Over the two-game stretch, Page shot 19-for-30 from the floor, 8-of-14 from behind the arc and was perfect (6-of-6) from the line. He averaged 26.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game.

For women’s basketball, Wright averaged 15.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.0 steals in 17.5 minutes per game this week. She shot 15-of-23 from the field to help the Sharks improve to 7-2 in SSC play.

The post player scored 12 points and added four rebounds off the bench in a 69-55 home win over Saint Leo University. Wright was 6-of-10 shooting from the field and also added three steals in the win over the Lions. On Saturday, in her first start of the year, Wright was able to help the Sharks get a road victory at Tampa, contributing 18 points in just 17 minutes of play. In the 55-53 win over the Spartans, the sophomore forward was 9-of-13, setting a new career high in points in the process.

Last but not least, centerfielder Spaulding is this season’s first Player of the Week for softball. She went a perfect 5-for-5 and slugged 1.000 in two games against Ave Maria. After entering the first game of the series as a pinch-runner, Spaulding delivered a walk-off hit in the eighth inning as NSU won 5-4. The outfielder then tallied four singles on four at-bats in the second game of the doubleheader. She drove in two runs while scoring one herself, and added two stolen bases in the 5-2 victory.

Page earns his second SSC Player of the Week nod this season, while Wright notches the first of her career and joins teammate Jessica Valley (R-Jr., Lafayette, Ind.) as women’s basketball players honored by the conference this year.
