Fourth Annual Sallarulo’s Race for Champions 5K Run/Walk for Special Olympics Broward County Takes Place Feb. 15

The fourth annual Sallarulo’s Race for Champions 5K Run/Walk benefiting Special Olympics Broward County will be held on Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) main campus at 3301 College Ave. in Davie on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009.

The race starts at 8 a.m., with registration and packet pickup from 6:15-7:55 a.m. in the Miniaci Courtyard next to the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship’s Carl DeSantis building.

Runners and walkers of all ages will compete for prizes while raising funds for the 1,000 athletes of Special Olympics Broward County. Local Special Olympics athletes will also be on hand to cheer on runners and present medals.


NSU Business School to Host T. Boone Pickens and Mike Jackson for Town Hall Meeting

Mike Jackson, chairman and chief executive officer of AutoNation, America’s largest automotive retailer, and T. Boone Pickens, chairman of BP Capital Management, will jointly hold a town hall meeting at Nova Southeastern University’s main campus on Feb. 17 to discuss America’s current and future energy situation.


NSU to Honor Lorraine Thomas with President’s Community Award at Celebration of Excellence

Nova Southeastern University (NSU) will award Lorraine Thomas with the university’s highest honor, the President’s Community Award, at NSU’s annual Celebration of Excellence on Jan. 22 at 6 p.m.


Randolph Pohlman to Leave Dean Position at Nova Southeastern University’s Business School

Randolph A. Pohlman, Ph.D., has announced that he will leave his position as dean of the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) in Fort Lauderdale to return to the faculty.


Blues Festival at NSU Now Free of Charge

With current economic issues leaving many people singing the blues, Nova Southeastern University (NSU) is pleased to announce that the second annual South Florida International Blues Festival being held on NSU’s main campus Nov. 7-9 is now free of charge for all three days. Grammy-nominated blues artist Kenny Wayne Shepherd will headline the festival, featuring more than 30 acts on NSU’s main campus in Davie in front of the Alvin Sherman Library, Research and Information Technology Center at 3100 Ray Ferrero Jr. Blvd.


NSU’s Huizenga School to Hold Fourth Annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Night

The Nova Southeastern University H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship will hold its fourth annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Night on Sept. 12 to raise money for undergraduate scholarships.

Performers at the Huizenga School’s Rock ‘n’ Roll night will include: Nokie Edwards, lead guitarist for The Ventures and a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame; singer and songwriter Richie Supa, who has toured with Aerosmith; and American blues rock and rock ‘n’ roll guitarist George Terry, who has recorded with artists such as Eric Clapton, Joe Cocker, Dolly Parton, and The Bee Gees and composed several hit songs, including “Lay Down Sally” and “I Shot the Sheriff.”


NSU Business School to Offer MBA Classes in Miramar

Nova Southeastern University (NSU) has announced that graduate-level business classes will be available in Miramar through its H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship.

The classes will be in the Community Library-Education Center located in the Miramar Town Center at 2050 Civic Center Place (Corner of Red Road and Miramar Parkway), a residential and commercial area that features City Hall, a performing arts center, offices and retail businesses.


Former Congressman John Kasich to Deliver Address at Nova Southeastern University’s Graduate Commencement

Named one of the “100 people for the 21st Century” by Newsweek magazine, former Congressman John Kasich will deliver the keynote address during the 2009 graduate commencement ceremony for NSU on Saturday, June 20 at 11:00 a.m.


NSU Business School Professor Named Fulbright Scholar

Jack Pinkowski, Ph.D., an associate professor of public administration at the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship at Nova Southeastern University (NSU), has been named a Fulbright scholar for 2008-2009 by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) in concert with the Fulbright Commission of Ireland.


NSU Adjunct Professor Receives Presidential Appointment to Department of Homeland Security

Thomas Cairns, D.B.A., an adjunct professor in the Nova Southeastern University H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship, was appointed by President George W. Bush to the position of chief human capital officer at the Department of Homeland Security.


Ambassador Joseph Wilson to Deliver Commencement Address at Nova Southeastern University

On Saturday, May 10, at 4 p.m., the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship, and the Fischler School of Education and Human Services will jointly hold Nova Southeastern University’s 2008 Undergraduate Commencement Exercises.


NSU to Induct Three Business Leaders into Entrepreneur Hall of Fame

The Nova Southeastern University H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship will induct three local business leaders – Ralph A. Marrinson, Douglas J. Von Allmen and Jordan Zimmerman – into its Entrepreneur Hall of Fame on April 16. The induction ceremony will be held at the Signature Grand in Davie beginning at 6 p.m. Attendance is by invitation only.


Advertising Executive and Entrepreneur Jordan Zimmerman to Speak at Nova Southeastern University’s Business School

Jordan Zimmerman, founder and chairman of Zimmerman Advertising and part-owner of the NHL’s Florida Panthers, will speak at Nova Southeastern University’s H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship on Feb. 4 as part of the Business School’s Distinguished Lecture Series.

The free public lecture will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Julian and Ellen Knight Lecture Hall in the Carl DeSantis Building, located on NSU’s main campus (3301 College Avenue).

Nova Southeastern University (NSU) will award Dan and Claire Marino with the university’s highest honor, the President’s Community Award, at NSU’s annual Celebration of Excellence on Jan. 24 at 6 p.m. The President’s Community Award is bestowed annually to individuals whose leadership and support provides the foundation for continued growth of the university.
