Student’s Annual Book Drive Benefits Cancer Patients

??????????

Annual Book Drive Benefits Cancer Patients.

Last May, University School student Rachel Sereix began her Collection for the Cure charity book drive, which has already made an impact on many cancer patients’ lives. Rachel’s motivation was to provide an outlet to radiation oncology patients undergoing cancer treatments. In an effort to serve patients from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds, Collection for the Cure provides books in more than six languages. In her book drive’s first year, Rachel collected 110 books. As a senior, she initiated the second year of the book drive and collected 250 books for the pediatric cancer patients at Chris Evert Children’s Hospital at Broward Health Medical Center. The hospital expressed its heartfelt appreciation for the donation. Due to the success of the program, Rachel looks forward to providing a platform for future student leaders to continue the legacy she will leave behind.
