Speaker Presentation – Meditation & Modern Life, April 21

SFZC Flyer finalWe welcome you to join us for a free discussion on Mediation & Modern Life. Speakers will be Adi Suta, DMD, a graduate of NSU’s College of Dental Medicine who is currently a Dharma Teacher in training. The other speaker is Carlos Montero, JDPSN, a chemistry teacher and chair of the science department at NSU’s University School and founder of the South Florida Zen Group. The discussion will be held Tuesday, April 21 from 7 – 9 pm in the Knight Auditorium of the Carl DeSantis Building.

In these times, information overload can easily tip us into scattered attention and increased stress. This is perhaps more evident in a university setting, where students and faculty find it increasingly difficult to focus and learn. Meditation is a contemplative practice that extends thousands of years and can be very effective in addressing these modern issues. Current research in neuroscience has confirmed several benefits of meditation in daily life. This talk will explain how mediation and mindfulness can be practiced in order to cultivate a sense of centeredness, focus and balance in all of life’s circumstances.

Contact Carlos Montero at cmonter1@nova.edu or Aadil Vora at av520@nova.edu for any questions.
