SHSS Welcomes New Faculty Member


Robert Witheridge, Ph.D.


Honggang Yang, Ph.D., dean of the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) has announced the appointment of Robert Witheridge, Ph.D., to the faculty at SHSS. Witheridge has been appointed as an assistant professor in the Department of Conflict Analysis and Resolution (DCAR).

Witheridge holds a doctoral degree in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from NSU and a Master of Arts in General-Theoretical Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He has spent the last few years as an Assistant Professor of Conflict Resolution at the Werner Institute for Negotiation and Dispute Resolution at Creighton University. While there he has taught courses such as Systems and Dispute Systems Design; Negotiation Theory and Practice; Negotiation and Conflict Resolution; Organizational Collaborative Practice and Conflict Resolution Practice; and Discovering Conflict Modes: Styles, Patterns & Approaches. He has also worked with a number of centers at Creighton and in the local community, including, Creighton University Medical Center, Leadership Omaha, Heartland Mediation Conference and the Department of the Treasury for Douglas County. Witheridge has been an adjunct faculty for DCAR since January 2009. Previously, he has taught courses at Rutgers University and Kean University in areas such as statistics, research methods, program evaluation, experimental psychology and communication and mediation.

Witheridge has been a Research Scientist for the New Jersey Division of Mental Health Services, and an HR Mediator for global labor relations in Copenhagen, Denmark. He has corporate experience as the Associate Director for Global Education and the General Manager for Organizational Development. His research interests include the use of mixed methods, particularly quantitative methods,  organizational issues including race and gender equities, decision-making, strategic business development and the application of organizational statistics, and conflict resolution practices and the impact on organizational conflict and employee retention.
