Professor in NSU’s College of Psychology Earns Prestigious Award

Mark Sobell, Ph.D., A.B.P.P., Ph.D., a professor in NSU’s College of Psychology, was awarded the Med Associates Brady-Schuster Award by the American Psychological Association’s Division 28 (Psychopharmacology and Substance Abuse). The award recognizes a senior scientist whose outstanding research highlights the important link between the behavioral sciences and psychopharmacology and substance abuse. The award was presented to Dr. Sobell at the American Psychological Association’s annual conference, which was held in Toronto, Canada on August 6-9, 2015.

Dr. Sobell is an internationally distinguished clinical scientist who has made significant and continuing contributions to the addictions field for more than 40 years. His academic accomplishments include more than 275 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters and books, multiple distinguished awards, and funded research grants from the National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the U.S. Department of Defense. Dr. Sobell has also been an adviser and consultant to many national and international organizations and was the 2011 recipient of NSU’s President’s Distinguished Professor Award of Excellence.
