Pride Bite: Student Media Galore!

shark pride logoDid you know that NSU’s official student newspaper, The Current, was once named The Knight? NSU’s mascot was also the Knights, which was changed to the Sharks by popular vote in 2005.

NSU’s student media has grown over the years and now includes a student-run radio station and TV station, a student electronic newsletter, and of course – the student newspaper. More information about each is below and you can access their websites here: http://www.nova.edu/studentmedia/

Radio X

Started in August 1990 as a cable-based station broadcasting solely to students residing on campus, Radio X is now a unique non-commercial, student-managed radio station that broadcasts live beginning at 6 p.m., to the tri-county area on 88.5 FM WKPX Sunrise. You can also stream it online 24/7.

SharkFINS

SharkFINS is NSU’s electronic student newsletter that is distributed weekly and primarily provides a brief synopsis of campus information, news announcements, and events and activities targeted to NSU students.

Sharks United United Television (SUTV)

Sharks United Television is the newest student-run media outlet at NSU. SUTV is a useful tool to unite the campus community, highlight campus life and provide students with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience while working in a fun environment.

The Current

As NSU’s one and only student-run newspaper, The Current strives to unify and inform the entire NSU community and provide students with unbiased, honest reporting on the important issues.
