NSU College of Pharmacy students Elizabeth Lessmann and Sheila Montalvo secured a proclamation from Florida Sen. Eleanor Sobel on behalf of the NSU Chapter of the American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP). They had the opportunity to present the proclamation to Michael Jackson, executive vice president and CEO of the Florida Pharmacy Association, which he later shared with the organization’s legislative affairs committee.

Upon receiving the proclamation at the Broward County Pharmacists Association (BCPA) meeting, Jackson said, “This was indeed an honor to accept this copy of the proclamation as presented by your student group during the BCPA meeting. Over the years I have become fascinated by the excitement that students at NSU have shown towards their profession. We had the pleasure of mentoring a number of students as interns here at the FPA. We are proud to say that many of these interns are doing great things in health care. Even though I am a FAMU [Florida A&M University] graduate and a diehard ‘Rattler’ I have been bitten by the ‘Shark’ and proud to tell my colleagues in other state pharmacy associations throughout this great nation what wonderful things are going on in Davie, Florida.”
