NSU’s School Psychology Doctor of Psychology Program Receives Accreditation

American Psychological Association Recognizes Quality of NSU’s School Psychology Psy.D. Program

NSU-Psychology1-Black_2048pxFORT LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, Fla.Just before the New Year, Nova Southeastern University (NSU) received notification that its doctoral program in school psychology (Psy.D.) earned accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of the American Psychological Association (APA), as accreditation demonstrates that the program meets the standards of quality set forth by the APA.

“To implement the program in 2011, and in four years receive accreditation from APA is tremendous,” said Karen Grosby, Ed.D., Dean of NSU’s College of Psychology. “We’ve worked very hard to position our program as a premiere educational option for students, and this accreditation is an acknowledgement of the quality of this program.”

In addition to the school psychology Psy.D. program, the College’s two APA clinical psychology programs (Ph.D. & Psy.D.), two pre-doctoral internship programs and its continuing education program are all accredited by APA.

The APA Commission on Accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation as the national accrediting authority of doctoral-level educational and training programs in professional psychology.

NSU’s College of Psychology offers degrees at the undergraduate and graduate level that include, bachelor’s degrees in psychology and behavioral neuroscience; master’s degrees in counseling, mental health counseling, and school counseling; as well as forensic psychology, and general psychology a specialist degree in school psychology and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology and school psychology.

The Ph.D. Program in Clinical Psychology is accredited by the Commission on accreditation of the American Psychological Association. The Psy.D. Programs in Clinical Psychology and School Psychology are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the American Psychological Association. The College of Psychology has two APA accredited pre-doctoral internship programs, the South Florida Consortium Internship Program and the Psychology Services Center internship program, as well as an APA accredited Continuing Education Program.
