NSU’s 2013 Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony to Be Held at BB&T Center, May 11

Nova Southeastern University will host the 2013 Undergraduate Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 11. The ceremony recognizes and celebrates students’ successful completion of academic programs, honoring graduates from NSU’s Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, Abraham S. Fischler School of Education, College of Health Care Sciences, College of Nursing, and the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship.

11:00 a.m.
BB&T Center (formerly BankAtlantic Center) | Sunrise, Florida
Tickets are not required for admission.

Bertice Berry, Ph.D., an educator, writer, and entertainer, will serve as the keynote speaker at Commencement. Despite being told by a high-school teacher she was “not college material,” Berry graduated magna cum laude from Jacksonville University and earned her Ph.D. in Sociology from Kent State University by age 26.

At Kent State, Berry taught sociology and statistics and became one of the most popular teachers there, often employing humor in her lectures to address difficult subjects such as racism and sexism. She later left the university and became an award-winning entertainer, lecturer, and comedienne. Berry has made more than 200 annual public appearances and is the author of multiple bestselling books, including her memoir I’m on My Way, But Your Foot Is on My Head.

On the eve of Commencement, all graduating students, their families, and their friends are invited to the annual Baccalaureate Reception. The event is free to attend. Business attire required.
