NSU University School Names Director of its Upper School

Dr. Scott Fech Will Begin His Duties July 1, 2016

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FORT LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, Fla. –– Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) University School , JK-twelth grade college preparatory school, is proud to announce that Scott Fech, Ph.D., has been named the new director of the Upper School effective July 1, 2016.   Fech was offered the position after a comprehensive search process, which included parent surveys, committee meetings, faculty, staff and student input, interviews and candidate feedback.

“I truly believe that Scott is a great fit for our community and I have full confidence in his ability to lead the Upper School into the future and to continue to expand the quality of our academic programs,” said William Kopas, M. Ed., head of school at NSU University School. “His expertise with curriculum enhancement, college placement and academic leadership will be a tremendous asset to all of our students, faculty and staff.”

Fech is currently the director of educational programs at The University of Chicago Laboratory Schools in Chicago, Illinois. He was previously the high school principal at the University of Chicago Laboratory School from 2012-15. Prior to his time at Lab School, Fech served in a number of administrative positions in the Grayslake Community High School District in Illinois, including two years as principal of Grayslake North High School. From 2002-08, Fech was the principal of Bishop Noll Institute in Hammond, Indiana.

Fech earned his Ph.D. in educational administration from Loyola University in Chicago, an M.S. in education from Purdue University-Calumet in Indiana, a Masters of Theological Studies (M.T.S.) from University of St. Michael’s College in Toronto and a B.S. in Education from Indiana University.
