NSU Undergraduate Students Present at Life Science South Florida STEM Undergraduate Research Symposium
NSU undergraduate students presented at the annual Life Science South Florida (LSSF) Undergraduate Research Symposium
On Saturday April 1, 2017, NSU undergraduate students presented ten research posters and two oral presentations at the annual Life Science South Florida (LSSF) Undergraduate Research Symposium. This year’s symposium was hosted by Palm Beach State College and featured presentations and talks from more than 80 student researchers from 11 South Florida colleges and universities.
NSU student Ezana Assefa won first place for his oral presentation “Sleep deprivation results in increased expression of cancer-related miRNA in humans”. Ezana was co-mentored by Drs. Aurelien Tartar and Jaime Tartar.
NSU student presenters included: Ezana Assefa, Linsday Craig, Alyssa Boltson, Eileen Davidson, Paula Leoro Garzon, Andrew Gonedes, Chelsea Mathews, Reaghan May, Brooke Munion, Kendall Mockridge, Melanie Perez, Alisha Trivedi, Marsha Zaman, and Edward Zacka.
Faculty research mentors also attended to show their support for the students at the event including: Jonathan Banks, Ph.D., Ava Bittner, O.D., Ph.D., Julie Garcia, Ph.D., Lubov Nathanson, Ph.D., Robert Smith, Ph.D., and Jaime Tartar, Ph.D.
