NSU To Host Annual A Day For Children Health Fair

Combining Health Care with Fun, Food and Games!

Ft. Lauderdale-Davie, FL. – Nova Southeastern University (NSU) will host its annual “A Day for Children” health fair on Sunday, September 14 from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., on the grounds in front of the Alvin Sherman Library on NSU’s main campus in Davie. The fair is free and open to the public.

This fun-filled day focuses on FREE health care for children ages birth to 15 years and includes screenings for vision, medical, speech, behavior and dental as well as physical and occupational therapy, all provided through NSU’s Health Care Centers. Social services and other resources needed to meet the behavioral needs of Broward County’s children will also be available through collaboration with Broward County’s One Community Partnerships.

The fair showcases the university’s clinical programs and will feature more than 75 booths representing different disciplines of the university, community service centers and organizations from Broward County. All booths are staffed by individuals available to answer questions regarding children’s health related issues or services.

In addition to the health screenings, there will be a variety of activities for children, including a bounce house, face painting, storybook characters, supervised sports activities, arts and crafts, games and food. New this year are free hair cuts for children, provided by Jig Saw, and a Teddy Bear Clinic sponsored by Broward Health.

The Davie Police and Fire Departments will provide fingerprinting, ID cards and free safety and installation demonstrations of child car seats; representatives from the Alvin Sherman Library will provide library cards for Broward County residents; the League of Hearing will be there with amplified phones; and the Epilepsy Foundation will provide free bicycle helmets as part of the daylong activities.

This year’s event is sponsored by the NSU Health Care Centers, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida, Broward Health, Broward County’s One Community Partnership, Children’s Service Council of Broward, WPBT-Kid Vision, en USA, Salud al dia, El Venezolano, Clear Channel, KISS FM, Broward Family Life, the Rose & Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center, Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Hispanic Unity, and the Boys and Girls Club, EDCO Awards & Specialties, Costco Wholesale and Mega 940.
