NSU Professor Speaks with WLRN About Vivitrol
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, more than 115 people in the U.S. die every day after overdosing on opioids. For people who try to seek help with addiction, many turn to treatment to reduce cravings.
Vivitrol is a medication that is approved by the FDA to treat opioid addiction. Broward County recently approved to include it to its tools in order to help addicts receive the treatment they need to quit.
Scott Kjelson, Pharm.D., CPh., assistant professor at NSU’s College of Pharmacy, spoke with WLRN about the price of the medication and how political money shouldn’t stop what the drug can do for people.
