NSU Offering Full Tuition Scholarships to Bright Futures Florida Academic Scholars

Nova Southeastern University is offering a limited number of full tuition scholarships to incoming students who qualify for the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship. NSU is the only independent, not-for-profit university in Florida offering the 100 percent scholarship to Bright Futures Florida Academic Scholars (BFFAS). In addition, NSU is offering a $500 Residence Scholarship for all eligible BFFAS students choosing to live in the university residence halls.

“With the economy forcing families to make difficult choices, we want to make sure that a quality education is available and affordable to the best and brightest students in Florida,” said NSU President Ray Ferrero, Jr. “The small class sizes, individual attention, and outstanding degree educational programs offered at NSU makes this a great opportunity for Bright Future Scholars.”

Applications for the award are being accepted now through April 30. Due to the limited number of awards, applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Eligibility requirements for the award are as follows:

  • Meet all eligibility requirements of the Florida Academic Scholars Award (Bright Futures Florida Academic Scholars) including:
    • 3.5 grade point average
    • 1270 SAT (Critical Reading and Math) or 28 Composite ACT
    • 75 community-service hours
    • 15 credits of college preparatory academic courses
  • First-time enrollee at NSU in fall 2009
  • First-time in college student, graduating from an accredited Florida high school in May 2009.
  • Full-time enrollment in an undergraduate program at NSU’s main campus in Ft. Lauderdale.
  • Must apply for and receive Florida Residency Access Grant (FRAG).

To apply, students need to fill out the NSU Bright Futures Scholars Award application and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and NSU State Aid application forms. The applications can be found on the Web site for NSU’s office of student financial assistance at http://www.nova.edu/cwis/finaid/index.html or by calling 800-338-4723.
