NSU Newcomer Petra Jurova Wins SSC Tennis Player of the Week

rp_primary_IMG_0272Nova Southeastern University newcomer Petra Jurova’s (Jr., Bratislava, Slovakia) performance during her debut weekend as a Shark has earned her the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week award, as announced by the league office Monday, Feb. 9.

In team wins over No. 15 Valdosta State and No. 30 Flagler, both on the road, Jurova was an undefeated 4-0 in singles and doubles play. As the Sharks’ No. 2 singles player, she defeated Jennifer Rink of Valdosta (6-1, 6-3) and Flagler’s Esther Santiago (6-0, 6-2). As part of NSU’s top doubles combo, she and Sabrina Kierberg (Jr., Munich, Germany) also went unscathed, in an 8-1 victory over VSU and an 8-4 win against Flagler.

Jurova and the Sharks next will have their 2015 spring home opener this Thursday, Feb, 19, hosting St. Thomas at the NSU Tennis Center
