NSU Announces new Vice President for Public Relations and Marketing Communications

KyleFisher - NSU

Kyle Fisher, B.A.

Nova Southeastern University (NSU) President Dr. George Hanbury announced the appointment of Kyle Fisher, B.A., to vice president for public relations and marketing communications, effective July 11. She will report directly to President Hanbury.

In this newly created position, Fisher will provide strategic and integrated public relations leadership in the areas of advertising, marketing, social media, internal communications, advancement communications, and public relations. She will be responsible for the university’s efforts to position the NSU brand to internal and external audiences, and to advance the university’s mission and vision. She will also work in conjunction with NSU’s Office of Advancement and Community Relations to support NSU’s recently launched philanthropic campaign, Realizing Potential, the largest such campaign in the university’s history.

“Ms. Fisher has a deep understanding of the higher education environment and brings to NSU a wealth of experience in the areas of institutional visibility, recruitment marketing, branding,  strategic public relations counsel, alumni and donor communications,” said President Hanbury. “Her leadership and insight will be instrumental in helping the university reach its strategic goals.”

Fisher joins NSU from Robert Morris University (RMU) in Pennsylvania, where she currently serves as vice president for public relations/marketing and alumni relations. Previously, she served as the chief marketing and public relations officer at RMU. She also spent 18 years at Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania, serving her final six years there as associate vice president of institutional advancement with responsibilities as chief media relations/marketing officer and senior creative director.

“This is an exciting time to join Nova Southeastern University,” said Fisher. “I look forward to supporting NSU’s growth as a private research university for both undergraduate and graduate students, and helping the university achieve President Hanbury’s Vision 2020 to position NSU as a premier, not-for-profit university of quality and distinction.”

In addition to her time at Carnegie Melon and RMU, Fisher has held previous appointments at San Diego State University and University of California Santa Barbara. She has also served as a consultant for Georgia State University and Georgia Institute of Technology, among others.

Fisher is a member of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education; College of University Public Relations Association of Pennsylvania; National Science Foundation Public Relations Network and the Public Relations Society of America Counselors for Higher Education.

She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in creative and professional writing from Carnegie Mellon University and attended University of Chicago as an English literature major.
