Nova Southeastern University (NSU) recently held a reception to celebrate the opening of the Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine (NSU MD) at Grande Oaks Golf Club in Davie.  More than 150 community leaders attended the event, which was hosted by the NSU Board of Trustees, NSU President Dr. George L. Hanbury, and NSU MD Dean Dr. Johannes Vieweg.  Honored guests included Dr. Kiran C. Patel – the only person in the nation to have two medical schools named in his honor – and his wife, Dr. Pallavi Patel.  Attendees had the opportunity to hear from Eric Carlton Young, one of 53 students in the charter class of NSU’s Doctor of Medicine program, as he shared his passion for pursuing a career in medicine.  With the addition of the new M.D. program, NSU is one of only three universities in the U.S. with two medical colleges.
