NSU Hosts President’s Faculty Research and Development Grant (PFRDG) and Quality of Life (QOL) Awards Ceremony

The 19th Annual President’s Faculty Research and Development Grant (PFRDG) and 16th Annual Quality of Life Award Ceremony was held on May 15th in the Don Taft University Center on NSU’s main campus.
NSU President George L. Hanbury II, Ph.D., and Gary Margules, Sc.D., Vice President for the Office of Research and Technology Transfer recognized 30 research projects that received PFRDG awards up to $15,000 each for fiscal year 2019. The 30 PFRDG awards represent 13 academic units involving 50 faculty and 55 students for a total of $374,363. Overall a total of 55 PFRDG proposals was submitted.
Four Quality of Life Community-Based Applied Research Grant awards of up to $15,000 were awarded for fiscal year 2019. Barbara Packer-Muti, Ph.D., Executive Director of the Office of Institutional and Community Engagement, and Chair of the Quality of Life presented the awards.
The President thanked faculty members, as well as Palm Beach, Broward and Dade County Community Partners, who represented the Quality of Life project submissions, including the Outstanding Community Partner of the Year – the Special Olympics Florida–Broward County – which was accepted by Linda Mills, Director, Special Olympics Florida – Broward County.
Raymond Ownby, M.D., Professor in the College of Osteopathic Medicine and the 2013 Provost’s Research and Scholarship Award winner gave the closing remarks.
