NSU Expert Talks About Newest Disney Princess

First-Ever Latina Princess Can "Empower" Young Girls

What is being hailed as Disney’s first-ever Latina princess, Elena Castillo Flores in “Elena of Avalor,” is being voiced by S. Florida’s own Aimee Carrero.

Maribel Del Rio-Roberts, Psy.D., an Assistant Professor within the Department of Justice and Human Services within NSU’s College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences recently provided her expertise for a story on how such a Disney character can help “empower” young girls who see themselves in the Disney character.
