NSU College of Pharmacy’s Alpha Zeta Omega Fraternity Attends National Convention

NSU Palm Beach pharmacy students participate in beach cleanup at Alpha Zeta Omega professional pharmacy fraternity semi-annual convention.

Members of the Psi chapter of the Alpha Zeta Omega (AZO) professional pharmacy fraternity at NSU’s College of Pharmacy Palm Beach Campus recently attended the semi-annual National Alpha Zeta Omega Convention which in West Palm Beach.

The convention was a great opportunity for professional networking and for members to report on the chapter’s 2013 community service projects, including the annual ‘Adopt-A-Highway’ Roadside cleanup and Habitat for Humanity project;  the American Heart Association walk in which the professional college fraternity teamed up with NSU’s Palm Beach Student Government Association (PB SGA) and American Pharmacists Association – Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA – ASP) to help raise $1,300; and  plans to support the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation for research and education.

The convention included community service projects, a continuing education presentation, and social activities such as a visit to the Palm Beach Zoo. Community events included a scenic 2-mile walk around West Palm Beach that raised funds for the Ronald McDonald Charities and the AZO Psi chapter, in support of the convention, and an organized a beach clean-up that was held on the island of Palm Beach.  More than 20 brothers and their family members from the Psi and Nu chapters, NSU AZO Psi Chapter faculty advisor Feroza Sircar, Pharm.D.; and AZO national officers including the national Supreme Directorum Steve Brooks, R.Ph., participated in the event.
