NSU College of Pharmacy Assistant Dean Appointed to Florida Board of Pharmacy

Goar Alvarez, Pharm.D., C.Ph., FASCP

FORT LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, Fla. – Goar Alvarez, Pharm.D., C.Ph., FASCP, assistant dean of the Nova Southeastern University (NSU) College of Pharmacy, was appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Florida Board of Pharmacy. His term began on May 23, 2014 and ends on Oct. 31, 2017.

“I am honored and excited to have been appointed to the Board of Pharmacy by Gov. Scott and look forward to serving the citizens of the great state of Florida,” said Alvarez.

Alvarez is past speaker of the House of Delegates of the Florida Pharmacy Association (FPA) and past president of the FPA.  He is also the 2002 recipient of the James H. Beal Pharmacist of the Year award. He joined NSU in 1999 and has served as director of pharmacy services and assistant professor of pharmacy administration.

“We are proud of Dr. Alvarez for his work on behalf of the students, faculty and patients at Nova Southeastern University and know he will be of great service to the pharmacy community and the citizens of Florida as a member of the Florida Board of Pharmacy,” said Lisa Deziel, Pharm.D., Ph.D., dean of the NSU College of Pharmacy.

Alvarez received his bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from Florida A&M University and his Doctor of Pharmacy from Nova Southeastern University.
