More Than 300 of NSU’s ‘Dateline: Health’ TV Episodes Now Available on DVD to the Public at Alvin Sherman Library

Savvy Broward County insiders who want the latest health information know that one of the best places to find it is at the Alvin Sherman Library, Research, and Information Technology Center located on the campus of Nova Southeastern University (NSU). That’s because the Alvin Sherman Library now boasts a collection of more than 300 episodes of the award-winning, NSU-produced, local television show Dateline: Health is available on DVD to the public as part of The Lippman Collection.


NSU Law Center Hosts C.L.E. on ‘Domestic Violence in Our Community: Impacts & Implications’

Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad Law Center will host a CLE for attorneys on Friday, Aug. 24 titled: Domestic Violence in Our Community: Impacts & Implications. The CLE will cover What Attorneys & Mediators Should Know, and When Domestic Violence is an Issue. The half-day program is designed for family law attorneys, mediators, and any attorney who has a client with a domestic violence issue.


NSU Becomes a Tobacco and Smoke-Free Campus

Effective July 1, Nova Southeastern University (NSU) will join nearly 400 U.S. colleges and universities to become a tobacco and smoke-free campus. NSU faculty, staff and students who want to quit smoking continue to be encouraged to take advantage of the university’s multiple smoking cessation programs and resources which are available year-round.


Debates in Florida’s U.S. Senate Race Confirmed for Primary, General Election

The successful statewide partnership that produced historic candidate debates in 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2010 is back – this time to help Floridians choose their next U.S. Senator. “Decision 2012: Before You Vote,” a project created by Leadership Florida, in partnership with the Florida Press Association, today announced solid details for the exciting new debate series for the 2012 primary and general election cycles, featuring the major candidates for Florida’s U.S. Senate seat. Many political observers consider this Florida contest the most-watched U.S. Senate race in the country.


NSU Awards Most Doctoral Degrees Nationally to Hispanics for Fourth Consecutive Year

Nova Southeastern University was recently ranked as the number one institution in the nation for the number of doctoral degrees awarded to Hispanic students. The ranking was published in the Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education Magazine’s 2012 “Top 100 Colleges for Hispanics” edition.


NSU Law Center Dean Elected Chair-Elect of the Law School Admission Council

Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) Athornia Steele, J.D., dean of the Shepard Broad Law Center, was elected chair-elect of the Law School Admission Council at their 2012 Annual Meeting and Educational Conference of LSAC held May 30 – June 2 at the Boca Raton Resort & Club. Steele, a former member of the faculty at Capital University Law School, became the dean at NSU’s Law Center in 2008.

Nova Southeastern University (NSU) announces the appointment of William “Bill” Stanton to the position of interim executive director of the Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale. Stanton begins serving the museum effective immediately. Fort Lauderdale’s leading art destination, the museum became a division of Nova Southeastern University in 2008.
