“Mixed-Ability” Dance Troupe to Offer Performance, Master Class at NSU, Oct. 29
The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences will host an on-campus master class and a performance featuring the dance troupe Karen Peterson and Dancers.
Karen Peterson and Dancers features adult dancers with and without disabilities who create and perform “mixed-ability” dance as an inclusive art. The troupe provides a positive role model for the disability community and offers new visual inspiration for traditional dance audiences.
Their performance, titled “Grit,” is a video dance collaboration that explores the physical, social, and emotional context of grit in today’s world. The production was created by video artist Dinorah de Jesus Rodriquez and choreographers Karen Peterson and Katrina Weaver. Following the performance, the troupe will offer a question and answer session with audience members.

The Master Class has a limit of 10 students admitted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
