Nova Southeastern University head men’s soccer coach Matt Watts has announced James Moore as the program’s assistant coach.

Moore, a former professional player with the United Soccer League’s Charlotte Eagles, previously served as a graduate assistant at the University of West Florida where he played from 2011-2013. He served as the goalkeeper coach and was heavily involved in player development and recruiting, both of which will be a big focus for him at NSU.

“I am very pleased to have James join our program here at NSU,” said Watts. “I feel by adding him to our staff we have already become stronger as a program. He comes from a great playing background in England with Manchester United’s youth team and had a stellar playing career at the University of West Florida.”

Moore brings extensive knowledge of the game to NSU after playing at both the collegiate and professional levels. While at West Florida, he was named to the NSCAA and Daktronics All-South Region Second Teams. He was also a two-time All-Gulf South Conference First Team and GSC All-Tournament Team selection at both West Florida and the University of the Cumberlands where he played from 2009-2011.

“James brings a wealth of experience of this region and the Sunshine State Conference having been the assistant coach at UWF under Bill Elliott who I have a lot of respect for,” added Watts. “James has recruited out of Florida as well as internationally, which is very important for our program at this time, and his technical and tactical knowledge of the game is top class. I am excited to get working with him to build this program.”

The English native spent eight years playing for Manchester United’s youth team then spent a year in the Premier Development League with the Mississippi Brilla. Moore was part of the 2013 USL Charlotte Eagles team that was a national finalist before playing for the Chattanooga FC of the National Premier Soccer League. While with Chattanooga, the team was crowned the United States National Amateur Champions, two-time South Region Champions, two-time Southeast Conference Champions and Hank Steinbrecher Cup Champions.

Moore earned his undergraduate degree in health, leisure and exercise science followed by a master’s degree in the same field both from West Florida.
