international Education WeekIn honor of this year’s International Education week (November 17-21), NSU Office of International Affairs will host an array of free activities starting November 14 through November 21. These campus-wide events are to highlight NSU’s international initiatives that support our mission and core values! All events are open to the entire NSU Community unless otherwise specified.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2014

Preparing Yourself Professionally for Today’s Global Environment -noon to 1:00 p.m.
Carl DeSantis Building-Room 3049, Main Campus, Davie
The workshop will provide participants with a better understanding of how to prepare for a job search, how to network effectively to succeed in your professional search in this era of globalization.

A Career Development Office Workshop.

Education Abroad Forum and Expo -1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Carl DeSantis Building-Room 3032, Main Campus, Davie
This session highlights several international travel-study and study abroad programs that NSU faculty and students have conducted and participated in over the past few years. Students will share and reflect upon their individual experiences and the impact on their lives and future career goals. The program will also feature a mini expo of program offerings as well as library related services

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2014

H-1B: A Workshop for International Students -noon to 1:00 p.m.
Carl DeSantis Building, Room 1047, Main Campus, Davie
This workshop explains the particulars of obtaining an H1-B work visa including the process of H1-B sponsorship, visa allocation, cap subject vs. cap exempt, government and legal fees, the labor condition application, prevailing wage vs. actual wage, and cap gap automatic extensions. This workshop also provides information regarding permanent residency based on employment.

International Education Week at NSU is a collaborative effort among the schools, colleges, and centers on campus.
